Job summary

Associated Environmental Consultants, part of the Associated Engineering Group, seeks a Senior Contaminated Sites Professional for the Vancouver office.

You will provide technical leadership, design and oversee site assessment and remediation efforts, and manage complex projects with a focus on client relationships and growth of the practice.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or diploma in a relevant science or engineering field; graduate degree preferred.
• 15+ years of post-graduation experience in environmental consulting, with 7+ years in project management.
• Experience with contaminated sites assessment and remediation, and knowledge of related protocols.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the contaminated sites team; oversee strategic planning for marketing, hiring, and technical initiatives.
• Design and oversee contaminated site assessment and remediation work.
• Manage complex projects with technical oversight and data interpretation; prepare plans, proposals, and reports.
• Contribute to business development, including client contacts and proposal preparation.

What you’ll do:

• Support the growth of our team through involvement with strategic planning for marketing, hiring and technical initiatives.
• Design and oversee the implementation of contaminated site assessment and remediation work.
• Manage complex projects and providing technical oversight.
• Perform screening level risk assessments.
• Analyze and interpreting data.
• Prepare and reviewing work plans, proposals, project reports, technical memos, and letters.
• Contribute to business development, including leading and assisting in proposal preparation, client contacts, and meetings.
• Build and/or lead our contaminated sites team and mentoring junior staff.

Does this sound like you?

• Undergraduate degree or diploma in relevant pure or applied science; graduate (M.Sc.) degree preferred.
• Eligible for professional registration or currently meets the application requirements (e.g., AScT, P.Ag., R.P.Bio, P.Biol., or P.Chem., P.Geo., P.Eng., or similar).
• 15+ years of post-graduation experience in environmental consulting specific to managing contaminated sites and 7+ years of experience in project management.
• Contaminated Sites experience must include Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary Site Investigation, Detailed Site Investigations, Site Profiles, and legal instruments methods according to BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy (ENV) as well as Phase I to III ESA (CSA Z768-01 and CSA Z769-00) assessment protocols.
• Experience working with CSAPs and Ministry issued instrument application processes for investigations that are subject to applications for legal instruments; reviews by Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals/ENV.
• Understanding of contaminant hydrogeology and monitoring well design and sampling and demonstrable experience in the assessment of soil and groundwater contaminant interactions, including the preparation of Conceptual Site Models.
• Soil vapour sampling, testing, and modelling experience.
• Site remediation (soil and groundwater) design, remedial action planning, supervision, and confirmation remediation reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficient at software for word processing, data management, and presentations.
• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail, and ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines within a team environment.
• Ability to travel.
• Valid driver’s licence.
