What will your typical day look like?

As a Consultant / Senior Consultant in the Actuarial and Insurance Solutions practice, you will collaborate with a team of professionals and contribute to market initiatives.

You will:

  • Deliver work on a wide range of consulting projects within actuarial projects, including Appointed Actuary services, actuarial model development (AXIS, Pathwise, Python), model risk management, climate risk modelling, and audit support.
  • Contribute to market offerings by bringing fresh, innovative approaches to existing and new initiatives.
  • Work with high-profile clients on actuarial technology transformation, product and underwriting strategy, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), advanced data analytics, financial/regulatory reporting, and financial/capital forecasting and planning.
  • Stay current with technical and industry developments including Insurtech, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Advanced Analytics.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal learning and development; act as a brand ambassador to help attract top talent.
  • Actively focus on developing effective communication and relationship-building skills.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

You are someone with:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a leading university in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Data Science with Actuarial exams in progress; Master’s degree holders are welcome.
  • Proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Proficient / mastery of life & health actuarial modelling software such as Moody’s AXIS, Aon Pathwise, and FIS Prophet.
  • Technology skills such as Python, Databricks, Alteryx, Tableau, Visual Basic, R; would be an asset.
  • 1 to 4 years of relevant experience in an insurance company, reinsurer, or actuarial consulting firm (including internships/co-ops).
  • Understanding and experience with valuation and reporting standards such as IFRS17, LICAT, US Statutory; asset.
  • Ability to work within a team and deliver high-quality work under time constraints.
  • An inquisitive, positive mindset with a drive to move things forward.
  • Proficient in English. French communication skills are an asset.

Total Rewards

The salary range for this position is $56,000 - $90,000 at the Consultant level and $72,000 - $116,000 for the Senior Consultant level. Individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program. Deloitte benchmarks salaries and rewards based on performance and role.
