As a member of our Construction Yard, the Lead Hand will be responsible for providing support and supervision to the Yard staff and operations under the direction of the Equipment Manager. This position is located out of the Construction Yard.

What You'll Be Working On:
  • Participate in Company Safety program including leading assigned safety tasks and initiatives and completing all required forms.
  • Supervise daily activities and staff assignments in the Construction Yard and provide updates to the Equipment Manager.
  • Lead yard staff, providing guidance and support while fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Participate in equipment and tools management, including inventory management, inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Ensure that equipment and tools are dispatched, returned, and recorded.
  • Assist with delivery planning and if necessary, make deliveries.
  • Complete delivery and receiving reports, dispatch lists, purchase orders, and time sheets.
  • Communicate with project teams as required to ensure seamless operations and project support.
  • Complete other various tasks assigned by the Equipment Manager.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Proven experience in a construction yard or construction experience in a relevant role, preferably with a general contractor.
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and materials. Mechanical knowledge and ability are considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with forming, scaffolding, concrete, and heating systems.
  • Ability to work safe and promote safety by adhering to safety regulations and Bird’s safety program is expected.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with MS Office.
