Job summary

Altis in Calgary seeks an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of facilities and infrastructure projects within a large post-secondary environment. You’ll coordinate with facilities teams, sponsors, consultants, and contractors to keep work moving safely and effectively.

This hands-on role covers HVAC, electrical, building controls, and space improvements, with ~430 project management hours across the portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing construction, renovation, or facilities projects through multiple delivery phases.
  • Strong knowledge of construction procurement, tendering, contract administration, and changes.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contractor submissions.
  • Knowledge of health and safety, building codes, permitting, accessibility, environmental, and regulatory considerations.
  • PMP or comparable credential and HVAC/building systems experience are assets.

  • Lead construction and infrastructure projects through planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, transition, and close-out.
  • Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, forecasts, risks, issues, changes, and documentation.
  • Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, inspectors, and operational stakeholders.
  • Support competitive procurement, scopes of work, vendor selection, contracting, and contractor performance management.
  • Oversee change control and assess impacts to scope, schedule, budget, operations, and stakeholders.
  • Provide clear reporting, facilitate project meetings, and identify risks early.
  • Coordinate construction in occupied facilities while minimizing disruption to day-to-day operations.

Job description

Location: Calgary, AB, Hybrid, with on-site attendance required based on project, construction, inspection, stakeholder, and operational needs

Language: Strong written and spoken English communication skills

Duration: Start date September 21st, completion date varies by project. Estimated contract duration is March 31, 2027with potential for extension beyond the fiscal year based on business needs

Background Check Requirement: 2 professional references and a background check is required

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to support a diverse portfolio of facilities and infrastructure projects within a large post-secondary environment. You’ll manage multiple projects at varying stages, working closely with facilities teams, project sponsors, consultants, contractors, procurement partners, and other stakeholders to keep work moving safely and effectively.

This is a hands‑on opportunity to lead projects spanning HVAC and building controls, electrical work, instructional spaces, and facility improvements. With approximately 430 project management hours anticipated across the initial portfolio, you’ll bring structure, sound judgment, and proactive communication to projects from planning through commissioning and operational transition.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience managing construction, renovation, building infrastructure, or facilities projects through multiple delivery phases
  • Strong knowledge of construction procurement, tendering, contract administration, change management, progress claims, commissioning, deficiencies, and close-out
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, budgets, forecasts, schedules, risks, vendors, contracts, and project documentation
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, technical reports, estimates, schedules, and contractor submissions
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety, building code, permitting, accessibility, environmental, and regulatory considerations
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, negotiation, written communication, and problem-solving skills
  • PMP or comparable credential, construction-related training, and experience with HVAC, controls, electrical, laboratory, building-envelope, or public-sector projects are considered assets
