Job summary

Redpath Mining Inc. is seeking a Construction Miner (Development) for a remote site in Northern Quebec. The role involves performing shotcreting, building refuge and crusher stations, muck bins, conveyor installation, timber and concrete work, as well as installation of vent tubing and related construction tasks.

Rotation is 14 days on / 14 days off with 12-hour shifts. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma (preferred) and at least 2 years of experience in construction.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • 2 years of experience in a related construction role.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect existing underground headings.
  • Scale loose rocks and install ground support to stabilize rock mass and ensure safety.
  • Operate pneumatic hand-held drills and other construction tools.
  • Operate hand-held drills such as jacklegs and stopers.
  • Use underground equipment such as LHD units and Boom trucks.
  • Follow regulatory, company, and client rules and regulations.

Flights to and from Val d'Or, Montreal, Quebec City, Nunavik and La Grande Rivière.

Job Summary

The primary role of the Construction Miner (Development) is to perform such work as shotcreeting, building refuge stations, crusher stations, muck bins, conveyor installation, timber and concrete work, sump installations, the installation of vent tubing (air, water and pumping lines), other construction work and maintenance jobs as required.

General
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inspect existing underground headings
  • Knowledge of construction methods in the mining environment
  • Scale loose rocks and install ground support to stabilize rock mass and ensure overall safety in the workplace
  • Operate, pneumatic hand-held drills and various other construction tools
  • Operate hand-held drills such as jacklegs and stopers
  • Use of rubber-tired underground mobile equipment such as LHD (Load-Haul-Dump) units, scissor trucks, Boom trucks, shotcrete sprayers and other support vehicles
  • Follow established regulatory, company, and client rules and regulations

  • Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  • Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
  • Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
  • Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
  • Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area
Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Work Experience
  • 2 years’ experience in a related construction role
Knowledge Required
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
  • Basic Knowledge of the mining industry
  • Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment
  • Ability to read, review and understand Standard Work Procedures, safety programs and applicable mine regulations
  • Basic understanding and ability to read civil prints and or construction prints
  • Must have the ability to adapt to change
  • Respectful of cultural differences
