Job summary

Thurber Engineering Ltd. in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking an Intermediate Construction Materials Engineer to join our geotechnical, environmental and construction materials team.

You will work on varied projects, developing your skills with guidance from our senior engineers while supporting field and laboratory testing. Responsibilities include condition assessments, concrete mix design, QA/QC support, field monitoring, and preparing technical reports.

Qualifications

• Completion of a related post-secondary program in Civil or Materials Engineering with a heavy focus on construction materials (i.e. concrete, asphalt, aggregates, etc.).
• Experience in construction materials testing is an asset.
• Proficiency in English is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute condition assessments, rehabilitation, and repair of infrastructure, including repair strategies for bridges and structures.
• Mass concrete thermal mitigation design.
• Non-destructive evaluation of reinforced concrete.
• Service life and durability evaluation.
• Design and review of conventional and specialty concrete mixes.
• Provide QC/QA testing and inspection support.
