Job summary

Worley in Sarnia, Ontario, is seeking a Construction Manager to lead field operations on a full-time basis. You will provide on-site supervision of subcontractors, plan and coordinate work groups, review plans and specs, assist engineers, prepare work packages, and participate in job-site safety reviews while supporting cost control and schedule maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews.
  • Perform quantity calculations from drawings and specs, and prepare work packages.
  • Assist in field surveying, layout, and as-built data compilation.
  • Assist in entering data into the job cost system and review cost reports with site management.
  • Assist with purchase orders and subcontracts as needed.
  • Support schedule maintenance and updates as directed.
  • Generate change orders and as-built data for Project Manager review.

Purpose

We are currently recruiting for a Construction Manager. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Sarnia, Ontario.

Responsibilities
  • Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite.
  • Complete a plan and specification review for an assigned project, assessing the risk areas and bringing them to the attention of the construction manager.
  • Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
  • Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work.
  • Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages
  • Assist in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data.
  • Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets.
  • Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training.
  • Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications and other contract documents.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations.
  • Assist Engineers to gather and prepare data for submittal or transmittal to the customer, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies, and internal use.
  • Assist in preparation of purchase orders and subcontracts, performing minor solicitations and purchasing as requested.
  • Assist in schedule maintenance and performing updates as directed by others
  • Assist with entering data into the job cost system and participate in reviewing cost reports with jobsite management
  • Assist in generating change orders and as-built data to be reviewed by the Project Manager

Technical and Industry Experience:

  • Progressive construction management field experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies in engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

For applicants based in the province of Ontario, the salary range is $119,047 to $169,047 CAD.
Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
