This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Construction Manager based in Canada.

This is a high-impact construction leadership role overseeing multiple projects from initial planning through final completion. You will manage project scope, budgets, schedules, safety, quality, permitting, and contractor performance across a diverse regional portfolio. Working closely with senior leaders, operations teams, contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, and regulatory authorities, you will ensure projects move forward efficiently and meet business objectives. The role combines strategic planning, financial accountability, field oversight, and hands-on problem-solving. You will have significant ownership over project decisions while operating in a collaborative, stakeholder-focused environment. This is a remote opportunity for an experienced construction professional who is comfortable with substantial regional and national travel.

Accountabilities:

• Oversee construction projects from inception and preconstruction through execution, commissioning, final inspections, occupancy, and closeout.
• Develop comprehensive project plans covering schedules, responsibilities, risks, communications, stakeholders, and key milestones.
• Monitor project performance against safety, quality, cost, and schedule KPIs, proactively addressing issues and escalating material impacts promptly.
• Provide clear, timely, and transparent updates to internal leadership, operations teams, contractors, consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Direct general contractors, engineers, architects, and vendors to ensure contractual requirements, quality standards, and project timelines are achieved.
• Conduct site surveys and due diligence, develop scopes of work, prepare estimates and budgets, review invoices and change orders, and manage financial closeout.
• Lead design reviews to ensure plans and specifications accurately reflect approved project scope and requirements.
• Manage permitting activities and support discussions with regulatory authorities and other applicable governing bodies.
• Lead bidding and contractor-selection processes and provide recommendations based on project requirements, capabilities, cost, and performance.
• Provide field oversight throughout construction, ensuring work progresses safely, efficiently, and according to approved plans.
• Develop site-specific equipment take-offs and coordinate equipment ordering for individual projects.
• Track project completion percentages, turnover forecasts, actual costs, and projected costs through regular reporting.
• Hold vendors accountable for delivery, quality, schedule adherence, and correction of underperformance or deficiencies.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with applicable environmental, accessibility, life-safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate commissioning and successfully hand over completed projects to operational stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure projects are closed in accordance with established procedures.
• Travel approximately 50–70% across Canada and, when required, other North American locations, typically involving 2–3 weeks per month and approximately 2–3 travel days per week.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience in construction and project management, with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or a high school diploma/GED combined with equivalent professional experience or 4+ years of U.S. military experience.
• Strong understanding of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, contractor management, procurement, and project closeout.
• Experience overseeing construction activities from preconstruction through inspections, commissioning, occupancy, and turnover.
• Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder-management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and field teams.
• Ability to assess project performance using cost, schedule, safety, and quality metrics and take decisive corrective action when required.
• Knowledge of accessibility and life-safety requirements and their application within construction projects.
• Experience with convenience-store, fueling, retail, or quick-service restaurant construction is an advantage.
• Knowledge of underground storage tank (UST) fueling systems, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems is highly desirable.
• Additional construction, engineering, project-management certifications, or relevant technical education are considered assets.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including approximately 50–70% regional/national travel.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, driving, reaching overhead, kneeling, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
