Amps Powerline in Winnipeg, MB seeks a Construction lineman/woman – electrical power line. The position offers permanent full-time employment with shift timings including day, evening, weekend, overtime, and morning hours.

The successful candidate will install and overhaul electrical distribution and transmission systems, erect poles and maintain street lighting, and supervise apprentices while adhering to safety regulations. A driver’s license and relevant trade certifications are required.

Qualifications

  • The candidate should be fluent in English.
  • Must have a certificate or diploma in other trades.
  • Powerline Technician Trade Certification and Red Seal Certificate required.
  • Experience is an asset.
  • Must work long hours outdoors and at heights.
  • Must be able to work underground.

Responsibilities

  • Install electrical distribution and transmission systems.
  • Overhaul distribution and transmission networks.
  • Erect and maintain poles, towers, and guy wires.
  • Splice, solder, and insulate conductors.
  • Inspect overhead and underground lines and equipment.
  • Instruct apprentices.
  • Install and maintain street lighting systems.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • The candidate will be responsible for installing electrical distribution and transmission systems.
  • The candidate must overhaul electrical distribution and transmission systems.
  • The candidate must erect and maintain steel, wood, or concrete poles, towers, and guy wires.
  • The candidate must splice, solder, and insulate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution and transmission networks.
  • The candidate will be responsible for inspecting overhead and underground power lines, cables, and auxiliary equipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for instructing apprentices.
  • The candidate will be responsible for installing and maintaining street lighting systems.
  • The candidate must ensure that health and safety regulations are followed.
  • The candidate will be required to climb ladders or operate hydraulic buckets when working aloft on poles and towers, or work in confined spaces such as trenches and tunnels to install power lines, cables, and related equipment.
  • The candidate must communicate with other workers to coordinate the preparation and completion of work assignments.
  • The candidate must work in confined spaces to install power lines, cables, and associated equipment.
