Job Summary

Salish Sea Industrial Services (a Ralmax Group Company) has an exciting and immediate opening for a full-time Construction Labourer in Victoria, British Columbia. As an industrial marine construction company, we operate in Victoria's Upper Harbour and at sites around Vancouver Island. The Construction Labourer will support our crew in constructing, installing, and repairing marine structures and land-based foundations. Reporting to the Site Supervisor, this role is ideal for individuals seeking hands‑on experience in a dynamic work environment. Previous experience in marine construction is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the construction, installation, repair, or removal of deep pile foundations and various marine structures, such as ramps, docks, timber wharves, and bulkheads.
  • Perform general site maintenance, including cleanup and material handling.
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances.
  • Promptly communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents / injuries to the supervisor.
  • Contribute to improving operations by streamlining work processes and working cooperatively with the team to ensure high‑quality service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
Education and Experience
  • Experience in marine construction is an asset, but not required.
  • Welding and cutting experience is an asset.
  • SVOP certification and boat operation experience are assets.
  • Firm understanding of rigging fundamentals is preferred.
  • Chainsaw experience / ticket is an asset.
  • Willingness to work in remote areas and travel for out-of-town projects is required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to set goals and manage multiple tasks and initiatives.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic are essential.

Work Conditions
  • Physical ability to lift at least 75 lbs.
  • Travel to off‑site locations is required.
  • Safety equipment, including steel‑toed safety boots and safety glasses / goggles, is required.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Awareness of hazards associated with the trade, such as working at heights and exposure to water.
  • Work is primarily outdoors, often in varying weather conditions.
