Job summary

WSP in Newfoundland and Labrador is looking for a Construction Inspector to act as the on‑site representative across multiple municipal projects, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance of storm and sanitary sewers, water distribution, and roadworks.

This 6‑month temporary position offers exposure to field inspections, contract interpretation, coordination with engineers and clients, and daily documentation while upholding WSP Health & Safety standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Construction Inspector on municipal infrastructure projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills for on-site relationships.
• Preferably knowledge of the Department of Transportation & Infrastructure Master Construction Specifications.
• A valid driver's license and a clean Driver’s Abstract.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections for municipal construction projects, including storm and sanitary sewers, water distribution, and roadways—identifying and advising of non‑compliance.
• Review and interpret contract documents and contract drawings.
• Coordinate and monitor the material testing/quality control program completed by others.
• Keep field diaries, records of work completed, and materials and equipment on site each day.
• Monitor environmental compliance.
• Work closely with the Contract Administrator to provide observations, records and data as required for contract administration.
• Track quantities, and review, preparing and recommending approval of payment certificates.
• Liaise with the design engineer and clients for approval of on‑site changes.
• Liaise with the public and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with WSP’s project‑specific Health and Safety Plan.

This work directly supports safer, more sustainable local infrastructure—improving how residents move, connect, and access essential services.

In this role, you will join our team as a Construction Inspector, a trusted on‑site representative helping ensure quality, compliance, and safe delivery across multiple municipal construction projects.

This is a temporary position for approximately 6 months.

Locations include:

• Nain, NL (1 position)
• Hopedale, NL (1 position)
• Makkovik, NL (1 position)
• St. Anthony, NL (1 position)
• Various locations on the Avalon Peninsula (3 positions)

Your Impact

• Preferably, solid knowledge of the Department of Transportation & Infrastructure Municipal Water, Sewer and Roads Master Construction Specifications.
• A valid driver’s licence and a clean Driver’s Abstract.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $60,100 – $79,600

MB & ON: $54,800 – $75,400

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC:$54,200 – $72,000
