This position offers flexible work location options and can be based out of our offices in Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, or Nova Scotia. We are currently seeking a Construction Estimator to join our team. This role is essential in preparing accurate, detailed cost estimates that support competitive bidding, strong project planning, and successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and documents to determine project scope and estimate requirements.
- Request, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, and other internal teams to ensure estimates align with project requirements.
- Prepare and submit bids and proposals within required timelines.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry pricing, market conditions, and construction methods.
- Review project addendums, changes, and updates to ensure all information is reflected in estimates.
- Assist in the handoff process once projects are awarded, ensuring smooth transition to the operations team.
- Support ongoing improvements in estimating processes, accuracy, and standardization.
- Participate in miscellaneous projects and tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Post‑secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, Estimating, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in estimating within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building components.
- Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Office, and digital takeoff tools.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, reliable estimates under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- A valid driver’s licence is an asset.
