Job description

The office of Member of Parliament Brad Vis is currently looking to staff the position of Constituency Assistant starting on January 5 2026. This position is a key frontline position and often acts as a first point of contact for constituents and stakeholders. The Constituency Assistant reports to the Director of Parliamentary Affairs maintains a high degree of professionalism and will be responsible for the duties below.

Duties
  • Serves as the first point of contact for constituents on all issues and incoming casework (e.g. immigration Canada Revenue Agency Old Age Security) providing information advice and support in person by phone and in writing.
  • Communicates with government departments and agencies on behalf of constituents to gather information follow up on national programs and seek resolutions to individual cases ensuring timely updates and communication throughout the process.
  • Manages all case files with sensitivity confidentiality and attention to deadlines maintaining a high standard of service and professionalism.
  • Develops and maintains effective systems to track constituent requests monitor progress and manage file distribution within the office.
  • Responds to constituent emails letters and phone calls related to casework in a clear respectful and timely manner.
  • Assistance in other areas of the office may be reasonably needed beyond this list. Flexibility is required.
  • Occasional long hours and some weekends as required.

Knowledge skills and abilities
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clearly concisely and professionally.
  • Sound judgment interpersonal skills and diplomacy when interacting with constituents stakeholders and the public.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment responding effectively to changing priorities and short deadlines.
  • Strong critical thinking attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian parliamentary system and current federal political issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
  • Self-motivated adaptable and eager to learn and take initiative.
  • Fluency in Punjabi and English is required; French is considered an asset.
Education and experience
  • Experience working in an office setting providing reception or administrative support.
  • Post-secondary education from a recognized institution OR an acceptable combination of education training and relevant experience.
Additional Information

Hours : 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as required.

Start Date : January 5 2026

End Date : October 2026
