Job summary

Equation Staffing Solutions is building a pool of experienced Concrete Labourers and Concrete Finishers for upcoming industrial and construction projects in Fort McMurray and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

We seek candidates with concrete or construction experience to support a variety of projects, including labourer and finisher roles. Employment is temporary/project-based with varying start dates and shift schedules.

Qualifications

• Previous concrete, construction or industrial labour experience preferred.
• Hands-on concrete placement experience is considered a strong asset.
• Concrete finishing experience is considered an asset for finishing opportunities.
• Familiarity with concrete tools and equipment is preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a construction crew.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation, placement and finishing of concrete.
• Prepare work areas prior to concrete pours.
• Move and position concrete using tools and equipment.
• Assist with pouring, spreading, levelling and consolidating concrete.
• Use hand tools, screeds, floats and other concrete-related equipment.
• Support formwork preparation and removal.
• Prepare and clean concrete surfaces.
• Assist experienced Concrete Finishers as required.
• Finish concrete surfaces to project specifications, where qualified.
• Load, unload and stage materials and equipment.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Follow all company and site safety procedures.
• Support other construction crews and trades as required.

Equation Staffing is currently building a pool of experienced and safety-focused Concrete Labourers and Concrete Finishers for upcoming industrial and construction projects throughout Fort McMurray and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

We are seeking candidates with previous concrete or construction experience to support a variety of concrete-related projects. Opportunities may be available for both Concrete Labourers and more experienced Concrete Finishers.

Employment Type: Temporary / Project-Based / Casual

Schedule: Varies by project

Start Dates: Ongoing / Based on Project Requirement

Responsibilities:

Duties will vary depending on the project and level of experience and may include:

• Assisting with the preparation, placement and finishing of concrete.
• Preparing work areas prior to concrete pours.
• Moving and positioning concrete using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Assisting with pouring, spreading, levelling and consolidating concrete.
• Using hand tools, screeds, floats and other concrete-related equipment.
• Supporting formwork preparation and removal.
• Preparing and cleaning concrete surfaces.
• Assisting experienced Concrete Finishers as required.
• Finishing concrete surfaces to project specifications, where qualified.
• Completing patching, repair and touch-up work.
• Loading, unloading and staging materials and equipment.
• Maintaining clean and organized work areas.
• Following all company and site-specific safety procedures.
• Supporting other construction crews and trades as required.

Qualifications:

• Previous concrete, construction or industrial labour experience is preferred.
• Hands-on concrete placement experience is considered a strong asset.
• Concrete finishing experience is considered a strong asset for finishing opportunities.
• Familiarity with concrete tools and equipment is preferred.
• Experience with formwork or structural concrete construction is considered an asset.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift.
• Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
• Strong attention to safety and quality.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a construction crew.
• Flexibility to work different shifts and project schedules.
• Appropriate PPE as required by the project.

Safety Tickets & Certifications:

Depending on the project or client site, workers may be required to hold one or more of the following:

• CSTS.
• CSO.
• H2S Alive.
• Fall Protection.
• Confined Space.
• WHMIS.
• Standard First Aid.

Assignment Information:

Potential assignments may include:

• Short-term construction projects.
• Concrete pours and project-specific support.
• Shutdowns and periods of increased activity.
• Several-week assignments.
• Three-to-six-month projects.
• Longer-term industrial and construction projects.
