About the Role

As Concrete Lab / Field Technician you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and durability of concrete used in construction projects. Your primary role will include daily visits to construction sites to collect samples and perform various tests on concrete mixes while working alongside engineers, contractors and other professionals. The position requires a strong understanding of concrete properties, testing methods and the ability to work collaboratively.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

As a Concrete Lab / Field Technician, your duties will include, but are not limited to :

  • Conducting tests on concrete mixes to determine properties such as slump, air content, temperature and density;
  • Performing compression tests on concrete cylinders to assess strength characteristics;
  • Daily visits to various construction sites to collect samples;
  • Maintaining accurate records of all testing procedures and results;
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant codes, specifications and regulations;
  • General concrete laboratory duties, including operating and maintaining testing equipment and tools;
  • Working outside and being exposed to changing weather conditions; and
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Civil engineering technology education or a closely related discipline;
  • Education in concrete technology will be considered an asset;
  • CCIL certification an asset, but not required;
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes;
  • Ability to operate concrete testing equipment such as slump cones, air meters and compression machines;
  • Good communication skills to interact with various stakeholders;
  • Good time management and organization skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in recording and reporting test results;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Access to a vehicle with full G driver’s license is required with good driving record (Driving Abstract required);
  • Physical ability to lift and move testing equipment;
  • Commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
