Job summary

La Caisse in Montreal is seeking a Principal FinOps Designer to lead the FinOps framework within the Service Reliability team. You will shape governance, cost visibility, and optimization across platforms and products.

You will collaborate with cloud and data teams, translate costs into actionable decisions, and promote a sustainable FinOps culture with a hybrid work pattern and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• University degree in information technology, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of relevant experience in a FinOps framework, including culture, governance, and continuous improvement.
• Experience working with teams at different levels of FinOps maturity.
• Strong understanding of cloud environments, specifically AWS and Azure, including cloud cost management models.
• Knowledge of analytics platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake.
• Knowledge of Datadog and other observability tools.
• Ability to translate costs into actionable decisions.
• Systems thinking across cost, reliability, performance, and technical debt.
• Strong written and spoken French and English.
• Ability to communicate orally and/or in writing with external partners located outside Quebec.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve the FinOps framework, including practices, governance, metrics, and tooling.
• Scale FinOps across the organization through cost visibility, showback, continuous optimization, and decision trade-offs.
• Serve as the FinOps reference point for platform and product teams to support autonomy and adoption.
• Ensure cost data used in IT and executive decisions is accurate, consistent, and credible.
• Contribute to FinOps governance forums and support strategic decisions related to IT prioritization, investments, and migrations.
• Provide Cloud Cost Management expertise to inform technical decisions and identify optimization opportunities when appropriate.
