Role Overview

UPharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. We are a locally owned pharmacy who takes pride in providing personalized care to our patients. Our environment is designed to support our team members and allow for opportunities for personal and professional growth.

The Pharmacy Assistant supports the compounding pharmacy team by preparing medications, managing inventory, and ensuring accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory and safety standards. This role contributes to smooth daily operations within UCompound by assisting pharmacists in the timely preparation and dispensing of compounded prescriptions.

Role Objectives

The Compounding Pharmacy Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain accurate labeling, batch records, and documentation in accordance with pharmacy regulations.
  • Prepare and package prescribed formulations and compounded medications as directed by the pharmacist.
  • Support inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and organizing raw materials and supplies.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of chemicals and pharmaceutical ingredients based on safety protocols.
  • Assist with prescription processing, data entry, and file maintenance within the pharmacy system.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in compounding and dispensary areas.
  • Provide courteous and professional communication with internal staff and clients.
  • Support the pharmacist in quality assurance audits or compliance checks as needed.
Role Qualifications
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Assistant Diploma or certification from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a pharmacy or compounding environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy terminology, dosage forms, and compounding procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and adherence to confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of Health Canada and Alberta College of Pharmacy regulations.
  • The completion of a recognized pharmacy technician program
  • High school diploma or higher
  • Pharmacy technician: 1 year (preferred)
  • Computer proficiency in Kroll
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Takes initiative
  • Excellent phone manner, speaks clearly and professionally
  • Strong attention to detail
