Job summary

Palliser School Division seeks a Temporary Full-Time Educational Assistant to join the Complexity Teams at Vulcan Prairieview Elementary School. The role supports Kindergarten to Grade 6 students with complex medical needs and collaborates with teachers to address academic and social-emotional challenges.

Anticipated start 2026-11-02 and end 2027-06-30. Benefits package through ASEBP is included. Location is Vulcan, Alberta, with full-time duties at the school.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized post-secondary certificate in child care/development or healthcare with practicum experience with students with complex medical needs.
• Equivalents combinations of directly related education and directly related experience may be considered.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certificates; Child CPR is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Ensures student safety, personal safety and safety of others.
• Collaborates with the classroom teacher to address academic, behavioural and social-emotional needs.
• Supports data collection to demonstrate student progress.
• Contributes to planning the student’s IPP and participates in learning team meetings.
• Communicates with learning team members about student progress.
• Works with students in various settings, including breaks and field trips.
• Performs other related duties as required.

• Ensures student safety, personal safety and safety of others
• Works collaboratively with the classroom teacher (K-6) to address academic, behavioural, English as an Additional Language and social-emotional challenges.
• Support in the collection of data to demonstrate student progress.
• Provide input into planning the student’s Individual Program Plan. Participates, as required, as a member of the student’s learning team in periodic meetings with the students, parents/guardians to review goals and develop revisions. Collects data to support student growth and the IPP development.
• Communicates with the student’s learning team members to provide information of interest and receive information that may impact the child’s progress.
• Works with students in a variety of settings in the school and community, including assisting in the supervision of students at breaks or on field trips as required.
• Performs other related duties as required.
