Although Counsellors are hired for Supported Group Living Services and not any specific site, this vacancy is for Lawrence and Grace. A Supported Group Living Counsellor may request a transfer by submitting a Request for Transfer from Human Resources by the closing date of the advertisement.
The Cochrane–Temiskaming Resource Centre (CTRC) is seeking a Supported Group Living Counsellor to join its team in South Porcupine. CTRC is a regional developmental services provider offering programs across the Districts of Temiskaming and Cochrane, including coastal communities along James and Hudson Bay. The successful candidate will work in a supported group living home offering supports to individuals with developmental disabilities. Supports include providing assistance with activities of daily living, leisure, recreational, interpersonal interactions, medical and personal care. Supported Group Living Counsellors work collaboratively with different team members including Assistant Supported Group Living Counsellors, a Registered Nurse, Psychological and Speech Services Staff, and Client Support Workers. Supported Group Living Counsellors report to a Supported Group Living Supervisor.
Part Time employees are offered a defined pension plan with the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) and are eligible from hire date to join the plan. Extended Health Benefits (80% of drug costs) Life insurance ($25,000), dental ($1,500/yr.), vision ($300/24 months) and para-medical coverage ($400/practitioner). Flexible shifts (e.g., 2-4-6-8-10-12 hours during a 24 hour period).
Part-Time Employees may be scheduled up to 56 hours every 2 weeks and may accept extra shifts. Shift premiums (extra $0.60/hr. for evening shifts, extra $0.65/hr. for night shifts and an extra $0.32/hr. on Saturdays and Sundays with evening and night shift premiums still paid). Overtime paid after daily limit of 12 hours. Personal Emergency Days as per ESA and Collective Agreement.
Only those possessing a Developmental Service Worker Diploma or Child and Youth Worker Program Diploma (with pharmacology course) or a Practical Nurse Program Diploma will be considered for the Supported Group Living Counsellor position. Possession of an updated Standard First Aid certificate (including Heart Saver CPR) and CPI, or willingness to obtain such is necessary. A valid G class driver’s license is also required. Bilingualism is an asset.
Individuals possessing a Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate with pharmacology may apply and work as Residential Counsellor (Underfill).
Supported Group Living Counsellor – Wage: $31.02-31.97
(+ 4.5%- 6.5% in lieu of vacation paid twice annually + 1% in lieu of benefits paid each pay period)
Supported Group Living Counsellor- Underfill Wage: $30.01-30.92
(+ 4.5%- 6.5% in lieu of vacation paid twice annually + 1% in lieu of benefits paid each pay period)
