About This Role

The Compensation & Mobility Specialist is a subject‑matter expert responsible for the ongoing administration of compensation programs and employment‑based immigration and relocation processes across North America. This role ensures compliance with applicable employment, payroll, and immigration regulations while supporting the organisation’s ability to attract, retain, and deploy talent effectively across borders. The role works closely with HR Business Partners, Finance, Payroll, external legal counsel, and business leaders, providing technical guidance, risk management, and data‑driven insights related to compensation and workforce mobility.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
  • Support and maintain the organisation’s compensation framework. This includes job evaluation and job architecture, benchmarking, annual compensation review cycles, and compensation-related analytics.
  • Partners with HR and leadership to support pay decisions related to new hires, promotions, adjustments, relocations, and internal equity reviews.
  • Supports the administration of short‑term incentive and bonus plans, ensuring accurate eligibility, calculations, and governance in alignment with approved plan rules.
  • Maintain documentation, policies, and compensation guidelines to support consistent and compliant decision‑making.
  • Primary internal owner of employment‑based immigration and relocation activities. This includes oversight of work permits, visas, renewals, and compliance obligations for employees working across borders, particularly within Canada and the United States.
  • Coordinates closely with external immigration counsel to manage cases, timelines, and documentation, while ensuring internal stakeholders are well informed of risks, constraints, and planning considerations.
  • Supports domestic and international relocations, administering relocation policies, and ensuring that compensation, benefits, and allowances are appropriately aligned with mobility arrangements.

  • Strong technical knowledge of compensation principles, job evaluation, and salary benchmarking.
  • Hands‑on experience managing work permits, visas, or cross‑border mobility with external counsel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to manage confidential and high‑risk matters with professionalism.
  • Clear communication, strong vendor management skills, and a pragmatic approach to risk are essential.
  • Organised, calm under pressure, and able to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
  • Comfortable operating across multiple time zones and global teams.
