Job summary

VHA Home HealthCare (VHA) is seeking a dedicated Personal Support Worker for Scarborough (Healthcare). You will assist with personal care, socialization, and emotional support, promoting independence at home.

The role requires PSW certification, weekend availability, and strong English skills, with duties including monitoring client wellbeing and reporting changes to the care team. Salary is placed within the collective agreement range ($22.42 - $25.17 per hour).

Qualifications

• PSW certification from an approved educational institution.
• RN/RPN/DSW/HCA/Personal Attendant certification.
• RN or RPN students with a minimum of 1 year completed.
• Internationally trained Nurse, Midwife or Physician credentials are considered assets.
• Ability to read, write and speak English (equivalent to grade 10).
• Willingness to work weekends or rotational weekends.
• Ability to travel between assignments within designated areas.
• Demonstrated commitment to client- and family-centered care.
• Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
• Immunization for measles, rubella, varicella and Hepatitis B prophylaxis is strongly urged.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification is a definite asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care, socialization, and emotional support to clients in home or community settings.
• Monitor and report changes in client behaviour and condition.
• Follow client care/service plans and maintain confidentiality.
• Support independence and delay institutionalization whenever possible.
• Ensure safety and coordination with interdisciplinary team.
