Job summary

Prairie Mountain Health is seeking a Home Care Attendant to provide direct client care and environmental support within established care standards. You will help clients maintain health and independence in their home environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, adhering to PHIA/Privacy Act, and coordinating with the interdisciplinary team. Requires Health Care Aide certification, Manitoba Class 5 license, and ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized Health Care Aide program.
• Other combinations of suitable education and experience may be considered.
• Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent with access to a personal vehicle for Prairie Mountain Health.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and IT applications; strong organizational skills; ability to work independently.
• Problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to adapt to changes in techniques and procedures; flexibility in a changing environment.
• Knowledge and competence of skills related to the position; effective communication.
• Commitment to confidentiality; ability to work with diverse populations and maintain positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates respect for client independence, dignity, privacy and lifestyle at all times.
• Supports clients’ independence in activities of daily living as assessed by the Case Coordinator.
• Operates in accordance with safety, sanitation standards and PHIA/Privacy Act.
• Utilizes electronic programs effectively; conducts mail, email, photocopying, faxing and telephone tasks as required.
• Assists with meal preparation per Canada Food Guide or client diet; organizes work according to service requests.
• Reports changes in client status to Supervisor/Case Coordinator per guidelines; documents in Incident Reporting System as required.
• Participates in staff meetings, case conferences and in-service programs; collaborates with co-workers to meet client-centered goals.
