Job summary

Job Title: HR Technician : CS

Crime and Trauma-Informed Support Services Unit (CTSS) requires one (1) self‑motivated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to apply trauma‑informed principles while supporting victims of crime and trauma.

Qualifications
  • University graduation in Social Sciences from a recognized university or a two (2) year diploma from a community college or technical institute in social services plus two (2) years related work experience in social services. Employees with a degree (BSW/MSW) or diploma in Social Work must be registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers.
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Criminal Justice System and its relationship to victim services, including a demonstrated understanding of the victim experience and the Victims Bill of Rights.
  • Experience providing trauma‑related supports engaging and collaborating with community partners who provide front‑line support to those who have experienced trauma.
  • Experience providing client support immediately following a traumatic event and working in environments providing front‑line support.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to change.
  • Experience in partnerships with organizations that support a diverse population of people who have experienced trauma.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the various stages of grief, types of loss, and intergenerational trauma.
  • Working knowledge of addiction and mental health (considered an asset).
  • Knowledge and experience in curriculum design of adult learning principles and theories (asset).
  • Understanding of trauma‑informed principles and GBA training with associated certificate (asset).
  • Certificate of Advocate Training from the Solicitor General and coordinator training (asset).
  • Completion of training in Trauma‑Informed practice; non‑violent crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and conflict resolution (asset).
  • Ability to work closely with investigators while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive investigatory information (asset).
  • Leadership, management, problem‑solving, and conflict resolution skills; ability to collaborate in a team environment (asset).
  • Collaboration with law enforcement and building relationships within communities (asset).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s licence; must complete a City Drivers Licence application and provide proof of liability insurance. Vehicle access required; mileage reimbursed.
Work Hours & Salary

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with after‑hours call‑outs on a rotational schedule; weekend shifts may be required.

Salary Range: 21B Salary Grade 017, $33.31–$41.84 hourly; $2,665.30–$3,347.80 bi‑weekly; $69,563.81–$87,376.54 annually.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support and referral for victims of crime and other trauma.
  • Conduct client‑centered needs assessments, case conferences, and provide ongoing support from referral until file resolution in court.
  • Work collaboratively with CTSS Volunteer Advocates to provide support to victims of crime and trauma.
  • Identify gaps in service and work with diverse community members to develop and implement effective strategies to mitigate these gaps.
  • Collaborate with other EPS Units and CTSS Coordinators to ensure high‑level service delivery.
  • Build and strengthen relationships to raise legitimacy and community awareness of available victim supports and resources at municipal, provincial, and federal levels.
  • Act as liaison between CTSS, EPS community partners, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Prepare statistical reports and draft or update policy reports on program outputs.
  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder partnerships and identify appropriate community resources for clients served.
