Job summary

The First Nations Health Authority seeks a Community Relations Representative to lead engagement with First Nations communities on Health Benefits initiatives. The role focuses on coordinating communications, developing presentations, and facilitating collaborative solutions across stakeholders.

You will liaise with communities, prepare reports, and build strong relationships in a hybrid Fraser Salish Region (Matsqui, BC). The position is permanent, 37.5 hours, with a supportive benefits package.

Qualifications

• University degree in Health Sciences, Education or Social Services or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience.
• Experience coordinating with First Nations communities (3–5 years typical).
• Experience delivering presentations and writing reports.

Title: Community Relations Representative

Salary: $68,263 - $93,861 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)

Location: Fraser Salish Region - Matsqui, BC (preferred), located on the ancestral territories of the Stó:lo Nations – Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy.

About The Role

The Community Relations Representative is responsible for communications and collaboration on behalf of Health Benefits to First Nations communities. As part of the Health Benefits Team, the Representative directly implements the engagement communication plans at the community level. As a liaison between Health Benefits and our community members, the Community Relations Representative proactively identifies recommendations for joint solutions that will be beneficial to all stakeholders.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have/be –

Education

• A university degree with specialization in Health Sciences, Education or Social Services or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience.

Experience

• Relevant, recent and significant experience in the provision of coordination support to First Nation communities (usually acquired over a 3-5 year period).
• Experience working with BC First Nations/Aboriginal people at a community and/or political level including in the area of community engagement and community/organizational development.
• Experience in developing and delivering presentations.
• Experience in analysis, writing reports, and providing recommendations.
• Experience with issues management and escalation.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge and experience with the community engagement process.
• Knowledge of health-related issues and those affecting First Nations communities in particular.
• Ability to build and maintain respectful and effective relationships with diverse groups, organizations, and individuals to work collaboratively and cooperatively, including good conflict management skills and abilities.
• Excellent communications skills both orally and in writing. Comfortable presenting to a variety of audiences and ensure material is adapted to the audience.

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full-time equivalent hours.

Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
