Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store Donor Welcome Centre in Brampton is seeking a part-time team member to support daily thrift-store operations. You will greet donors, sort and price donations, and help maintain a safe, organized store environment.

The role requires standing for long periods and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds. You will work under the DRC Manager with flexible weekday and weekend shifts, including Saturdays, contributing to a positive donor experience and efficient recycling

Qualifications

• Experience in retail or donation centers is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform standing/walking tasks.

**Job Description:****Address:**The Salvation Army Thrift Store Donor Welcome CentreBrampton Community Recycling Centre, 395 Chrysler Dr Brampton, ON L6S 6G3POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: The role provides service to customers, sorting incoming product and assists in the ongoing retail operations of The Salvation Army Thrift Store.ACCOUNTABILITIES: The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.1. Operations • Greet and interact with donors in a positive, friendly, and courteous manner. • Process raw materials by loading/unloading, sorting, packing, hanging, pricing, and storing donations. • Pay attention to security, by monitoring activity within the locale “Tidy Maintenance:”. • Contribute to the control of inventory by retrieving, sorting, hanging, and pricing as directed. • Handle the merchandise in a safe and organized manner; assist in stock rotation; bagging textiles to be recycled and placing metal recycling in the appropriate location. • Assist donors with their contributions, unload donations and place stock in appropriate location. • Maintain the proper sorting and processing of goods, ensure compliance with quality standards; that all products are priced correctly as per policy. • Perform other duties as required.2. Health and Safety • Contribute to the safety of staff and customers (e.g., snow removal, clear fire exits, clean spillage; no obstacles inside/outside the store). • Maintain an attractive organized and safe appearance of the locale, tidy up and clean, sweep, dust, and mop as necessary; on a rotational basis clean the lunchroom, washroom, and other common areas. • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Clarification of Information.
