The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation is seeking a dynamic, forward thinking and experienced individual to lead the delivery of programs and services at a Community Centre in Vancouver. As a key member of the Recreation Management team and reporting to the Associate Director - Recreation Services, the Supervisor is responsible for working as the primary City representative and effective team lead in the coordination, development and management of recreation facilities, programs and staff in the community.
The Supervisor is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of an arts and recreation centre, overseeing the delivery of programs and services in partnership with a local community centre association (CCA). This position also supports art partnerships, residencies, and arts organizations using the facilities. This role involves managing and supervision of a large and diverse staff team.
Roundhouse Arts and Community Recreation Centre: This unique heritage facility has a strong focus on the development of arts and culture programs; it includes a 200 seat performance theatre, a 7,800 sq. ft. exhibition hall, a gymnasium, fully equipped woodworking, pottery and dance studios and outdoor performance space. The complex lies in the heart of Yaletown, adjacent to the scenic False Creek seawall path and David Lam Park.
The Supervisor is accountable for maximizing resources to deliver quality services and meet public policy and key performance objectives. The position leads a large staff team and works closely with the local community association under a joint operating agreement as well as other agencies to develop and provide relevant programs. The Supervisor is responsible for the management of local and system wide program/policy assignments and collaborates regularly with colleagues across the City organization.
