Position Title

one (1) Temporary assignment Full-time Community Participation Support Worker in Orillia.

Utilizing a personal outcome-based approach, support people in making informed choices that lead to successful inclusion and participation in community based recreational/leisure activities; work/volunteer placements. The CPSW will be assigned to work in Community Support Services in Orillia, working up to 37.5 hours. The CPSW will work every other weekend or may require 2 consecutive weekends. The CPSW may be scheduled to regularly work public holidays. This is a 6 month contract position.

Compensation Package
  • Minimum rate of pay of $26.82/hour
  • 11 paid Statutory Holidays;

Minimum Qualifications
  • Developmental Service Worker diploma or an acceptable educational equivalency (Child & Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, Social Service Worker, Nursing, Psychology, etc.) as determined by the employer is required;
  • One-year recent work experience working in a community setting supporting the integration of people supported through outcome-based approach;

  • Valid class "G" driver's license and reliable transportation is required;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources; Needs of this program require flexibility as support needs are based on people's individual needs and community partner requirements as identified by the community partners;
  • Must be available to work flexible hours which will include working evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
Role/Duties
  • Facilitate and support participation in meaningful community-based activities which support individuals to develop skills utilizing community infrastructure such as transportation services to promote and develop leisure, recreational, employment and volunteer opportunities within the community;
  • Participating in goal planning with people and attending individual planning meetings as requested and supporting people to attain their desired goals;
  • Assisting people to maintain positive relationships and to facilitate independence in volunteer placements and competitive employment; providing job coaching as required;
  • Facilitating positive involvement and interaction in the community, acting in a professional manner at all times and as a role model for people supported;
  • Supporting people to successfully transition from school;
  • Providing personal hygiene supports as necessary;
