Maple Leaf Foods is seeking a senior Health & Safety leader to champion a zero-injury culture across the network and drive the rollout of a new safety platform. You will modernize SOPs to embed audit-ready practices and lead strategic H&S initiatives aligned with the corporate plan.

The role requires 7–9 years of H&S experience, strong knowledge of OHS regulations, and a background in enterprise software deployment.

Responsabilidades

• Lead enterprise rollout of the new safety platform across all sites, driving adoption and data integrity.
• Standardize SOPs to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
• Foster a proactive safety culture that reduces incidents across the network.
• Governance, audits, and corrective-action routines to sustain compliance.
• Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators and report to senior leadership.
• Hazard identification, risk assessment and corrective-action tracking through closure.
• Lead H&S training and certification programs for frontline staff.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness and crisis-response planning.
• Design, pilot and scale enterprise safety initiatives aligned with strategy.
• Collaborate with VP H&S to develop multi-year strategy and annual plan.
• Develop and coach a high-performing H&S team.

Provide senior health and safety leadership across the network, championing a proactive, zero-injury culture and ensuring every site operates in full compliance with federal and provincial regulations. Develop and lead the rollout of a new safety management platform and modernize standard operating procedures to embed consistent, audit-ready practices network-wide.

Reason for vacancy: Existing Headcount.

Compensation: $, - $, CAD base pay annually plus annual short-term incentive.

The above compensation reflects the target compensation for the position at the time of posting. The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job-related knowledge, and other organizational requirements. For part-time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in Maple Leaf’s annual short-term incentive plan.

Develop and lead the following initiatives:

• Partner with the VP H&S to develop, prioritize and execute the multi-year H&S strategy and annual operating plan.
• Lead and develop a high-performing H&S team by building capability, coaching performance, strengthening engagement, and developing future leaders.

Strategic Responsibility

• Translate the enterprise H&S strategy into actionable site plans, priorities, and standards.
• Advise site and operations leaders on H&S risks and recommend policy and process improvements.
• Anticipate evolving federal and provincial regulation and lead site readiness planning.

Financial Responsibility & Impact

• Manage the H&S program budget, including safety platform, training, and vendor spend.
• Improve cost efficiency by reducing injury rates, lost-time claims, and related premium costs.
• Support capital and resource planning with cost-benefit analysis for H&S investments.
