Job summary

A local government organization in British Columbia is seeking a Community Bylaw Services Officer. Community Bylaw Services Officer

Temporary Full-Time

The District of Squamish is seeking a dedicated and community-minded Community Bylaw Services Officer to join our team. This role involves both field and administrative work focused on the education and enforcement of municipal bylaws. You will play a key role in maintaining community standards and enhancing public safety through respectful engagement and enforcement practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. A respectful communicator who conveys information to others clearly and concisely.
  2. A natural organizer who maintains administrative records and prepares correspondence and reports to Council.
  3. An analytical thinker who prepares necessary court documents and prosecutes alleged violations.
  4. An skilled investigator who receives, prioritizes, and investigates complaints regarding alleged infractions.
  5. A safety officer who proactively patrols the Municipality to detect violations of Municipal bylaws.

What we’re looking for: Our ideal candidate will possess a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s licence with a safe driving record, Grade 12 supplemented with demonstrated enforcement experience related to the work, an original Police Information Check that is satisfactory to the Employer, Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certificate Program Level 1 and 2 and a certificate in Animal Control Basic Training from a recognized institution (a combination of related experience and education may be considered) and 2 year enforcement related experience with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the care and handling of animals in an institutional setting.
