Job summary

CBC/Radio-Canada in Saskatoon is seeking a Communications Officer to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. The role focuses on creating and executing integrated marketing plans, coordinating events, driving fan engagement, and producing multi-channel content across social, digital, radio and TV.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of writing, editing and proofreading experience, strong community ties, and a university degree or diploma in Communications/Public Relations

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years’ relevant experience demonstrating superior writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Experience with a wide range of communications and marketing materials.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressures and deliver compelling content.
  • Passionate about community and relationship building with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to take initiative, be creative and exercise good judgement.
  • Proficiency in writing for different channels and platforms; knowledge of CBC programming is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Implement integrated marketing plans to promote CBC programming and the CBC brand across platforms.
  • Organize events both internally and externally, virtual and in person.
  • Execute fan engagement, brand activations and contests to foster relationships with audiences.
  • Create and execute social media strategies for various platforms to deepen community connections.
  • Monitor campaigns, analyze performance and optimize content.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and implement campaigns.
  • Research suppliers for CBC promotional materials and assist with special projects and administrative matters.
  • Carry out related tasks as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Implementing integrated marketing plans to promote our programming and the CBC brand across all platforms (Social, Digital, Radio, TV).
  • Organizing events both internally and externally, virtually and in person.
  • Executing fan engagement and outreach initiatives, brand activations and contesting, to foster ongoing relationships with audiences.
  • Creating and executing creative social media strategies for established and emerging platforms that deepen our community connection and elevate a range of voices.
  • Monitoring and executing campaigns, analyzing performance and optimizing content.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and departments to aid, brainstorm and bring to life creative campaigns that attract target audiences and foster engagement.
  • Research, review and source suppliers for CBC branded promotional materials.
  • Research information regarding special projects, new initiatives and administrative matters.
  • Carry out all other related tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Three (3) years’ relevant experience that demonstrates superior writing, editing and proofreading skills, a working knowledge of a wide range of communications and marketing materials, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work under deadline pressures.
  • Must be passionate about community and relationship building, and be connected to younger, more diverse communities.
  • A strong desire to live and promote the values of diversity, inclusion and a respectful work culture.
  • Experience in community event logistics and brand activation execution.
  • Demonstrated customer service and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to take initiative and demonstrate creativity as well as good judgment.
  • Active and highly skilled on multiple Digital and Social Media platforms.
  • Proficiency, understanding and a proven ability to write for different channels is required.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Google Suite tools (Docs, Drive, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Meet).
  • Eye for detail and a creative thinker.
  • Flexibility in work hours as operations demand, including the ability to work shift work, including evenings, weekends and holidays, is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local CBC programming.
  • Knowledge of languages including but not limited to, Mandarin, Tagalog, Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi, Spanish or any Indigenous languages is considered an asset.
  • Availability to travel for short periods when required.
  • Flexibility in work hours as operations demand, including the ability to work shift work, including evenings, weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Post‑secondary certificate, diploma or a university degree in Communications/Public Relations or Marketing, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s licence as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada's insurance company.
