Job summary

Canadian Base Operators in Meaford, at the Army Training Centre - Central, is looking for a Communications and Electronics Repair Technician to maintain and repair RF communications equipment.

The role reports to the Communications Repair Supervisor and offers a daytime schedule, company benefits, and opportunities for paid vacation and training. A clean driving record and G license are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • DND LCIS QL5 or a College Technician diploma in Electronic or Computer Maintenance (08B9) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of DND policies and procedures is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform corrective, preventative and modification maintenance on all communications and electronic equipment assigned for repair.
  • Look up and order repair parts.
  • Keep workspaces and general areas clean, orderly and hazard free.
  • Operate and service hand and power tools.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Supervisor or to assist other sections or departments.

The Communications and Electronics Repair Technician is located in Meaford at the Army Training Centre - Central and typically reports directly to the Communications Repair Supervisor. The primary focus of this role is to perform the duties of a Communications and Electronics Repair Technician, leveraging experience in communications systems and electronic equipment repair, with a strong specialization in radio frequency (RF) communications equipment.

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS, AND PERKS

Annual salary - $68,000-$70,000

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform corrective, preventative and modification maintenance on all communications and electronic equipment assigned for repair

  • Operate and service trade specific and common hand and power tools
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the Supervisor or those that may be required to assist other sections or departments.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Proficient knowledge and understanding of:

  • Know the correct use, maintenance and safety procedures of the hand tools and powered equipment related to this type of work while applying that knowledge
  • Organization and time management
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills (English)
*Must be able to achieve and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance- continuous residency in Canada for the last 10 years is a mandatory requirement. *

To obtain a Secret Security Clearance from the Government of Canada, applicants must undergo a comprehensive 10-year background check. Applicants will be required to provide detailed information covering the past 10 years, including employment, education, and residency history. For this reason, continuous residency in Canada for the last 10 years is a mandatory requirement.
