Responsibilities

  • Develop, schedule, and publish content across Volt-Age's social media platforms.
  • Create multimedia content including graphics and short-form videos.
  • Write, edit, and proofread articles, announcements, and promotional materials.
  • Maintain the Volt-Age website using the University CMS.
  • Coordinate the production of Volt-Age newsletters and event materials.
  • Support conferences, workshops, webinars, and other events.

Position OverviewVolt-Age is seeking a highly organized, creative, and collaborative Communication Officer to support the program's communications and knowledge mobilization activities. With functional reporting to the Manager, Knowledge Mobilization and Communications, the Communication Officer will play a key role in developing engaging digital content, maintaining Volt-Age's online presence, supporting events, and helping communicate the impact of one of Canada's largest research initiatives.

Responsibilities
Communications
  • Develop, schedule, and publish content across Volt-Age's social media platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and branding.
  • Develop and edit multimedia content, including graphics, photos, and short-form videos.
  • Create compelling written and visual content including news stories, profiles, event promotions, and project highlights.
  • Write, edit, and proofread articles, announcements, and promotional materials.
  • Maintain and update the Volt-Age website using the University's content management system, ensuring content remains current, accurate, and accessible.
  • Coordinate the production of Volt-Age's newsletters.
  • Support the preparation of annual reports, brochures, presentations, and other communication materials.
  • Collaborate with researchers and internal and external stakeholders to identify compelling stories and communication opportunities.
  • Ensure communications adhere to Volt-Age and Concordia University brand standards.
  • Maintain communications calendars and assist in tracking project deliverables and deadlines.
  • Monitor performance and engagement, providing recommendations to improve reach and impact.
  • Support media monitoring and maintain communication metrics and analytics.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Events Support
  • Support the planning and delivery of conferences, workshops, webinars, and other related events.
  • Coordinate photography, videography, and social media coverage during events.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of event communication materials.
  • Assist with logistics before, during, and after events, including participant communications and on-site support.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in communications.
  • Bilingual in English and French, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing organizational social media accounts and developing digital content.
  • Knowledge of graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and basic photo/video editing.
  • Experience updating websites using a content management system (CMS).
  • Experience producing newsletters using email marketing platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality communications.
  • Experience supporting conferences or events is considered a strong asset.
