H.H. Angus and Associates Limited is seeking a Commissioning Specialist - Electrical to join the Science and Technology Division. You will verify that electrical systems meet design intent, manage commissioning plans, and coordinate with clients, consultants, and vendors on high-performance facilities.
The role emphasizes on-site problem solving, documentation, and rigorous QA to deliver safe, reliable building systems for healthcare, laboratories and other specialized environments.
At HH Angus, we strive to expand what is possible to shape a better future. We do this by empowering our employees to do their best work, find meaning in what they do and provide opportunities to grow. As an independent consulting firm with over 450 employees, we create innovative and sustainable solutions for our clients’ most complex challenges. Our passion is solving problems, innovation is our culture, sustainability is in our DNA, and we thrive on our clients’ success.
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and solutions-focused Commissioning Specialist - Electrical, to join our Science and Technology Division and play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of complex, high-performance facilities. In this role, you’ll help bring new and upgraded buildings to life—verifying that electrical systems are installed, tested, and functioning exactly as intended before they’re put into operation.
You’ll manage and deliver commissioning projects of varying size and complexity in both new construction and existing facilities, with a focus on science, technology, healthcare, and other highly specialized environments. Acting as the bridge between design and operation, you’ll verify installations against design intent and contract documents, witness functional and integrated systems testing, and ensure deficiencies are identified, tracked, and resolved.
Your work will include collaborating closely with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and facilities teams to confirm the safe and optimal performance of electrical systems. You’ll prepare commissioning plans, schedules, and test scripts, review technical documentation, and produce clear, concise reports for both internal teams and external project stakeholders.
This position is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge of electrical systems—such as power distribution, emergency power, life safety, and building automation—who thrives in a client-facing role, enjoys problem-solving on site, and can apply a rigorous, methodical approach to quality assurance. Your expertise, attention to detail, and relationship-building skills will be key to delivering safe, reliable, and efficient building systems that meet the highest performance standards.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical commissioning, preferably in complex facilities such as healthcare, laboratories, or other science and technology environments.
Diploma or degree from a recognized technical college or university in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
Proven ability to manage commissioning projects, with strong organizational, reporting, and presentation skills.
Solid understanding of electrical systems and experience working in the engineering or construction field.
Knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and commissioning best practices.
Proficiency with database tools and systems for tracking, documenting, and reporting commissioning activities.
Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet project schedules without compromising quality.
Accountable, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality, detail-oriented work.
Professional commissioning certifications such as BCxP or CCP (in good standing) are considered a strong asset.
The expected salary for this role is between $85,000 to $110,000 annually. Base salaries are determined considering several factors such as skills and competencies, experience, education, and internal and external competitiveness. Along with your base salary we offer a wide array of programs that include our Short Term Incentive bonus program, technical and business training, mentoring, wellness initiatives, the opportunity to participate in our coveted Defined Benefit Pension plan, flexible work arrangement, and hybrid work structure.
