About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager in Toronto, Canada with strong Electrical and Mechanical expertise to support a major data center project. This position is ideal for someone with solid Owner’s Representative experience on data center sites and a background in managing commissioning activities across critical infrastructure environments. The Commissioning Manager will oversee commissioning processes, ensure systems compliance, and act as a key liaison between stakeholders to deliver a fully validated and operational facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full commissioning lifecycle of electrical and mechanical systems within a large-scale data center project.
- Act as an Owner’s Representative, ensuring all commissioning activities meet client standards, project specifications, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to verify installation quality, system functionality, and operational readiness.
- Develop, review, and approve commissioning plans, method statements, checklists, and test scripts.
- Oversee FAT, SAT, IST, and integrated testing for critical systems including UPS, switchgear, generators, cooling systems, HVAC, CRAC / CRAH units, and fire / life safety systems.
- Maintain commissioning documentation, progress reports, and compliance records.
- Identify issues, track defects, and ensure timely resolution to support project handover.
- Support risk assessments, operational readiness reviews, and emergency preparedness testing.
- Ensure all commissioning activities align with safety regulations and on‑site EHS protocols.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a commissioning role within data centers or mission‑critical environments.
- Proven Owner’s Representative experience on data center construction projects (essential).
- Strong background in electrical and mechanical systems, including LV / MV distribution, UPS, generators, mechanical cooling systems, BMS, and fire systems.
- Experience managing commissioning teams and working with multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Ability to work on‑site in Toronto.
- Relevant technical degree or certification preferred (Electrical, Mechanical, Engineering, or similar).
