Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team seeks a Mechanical Commissioning Consultant to deliver commissioning services for building HVAC systems in the Halifax region and to help grow the service line provincially. You will work with diverse disciplines, coordinate with clients and contractors, and perform on-site commissioning tasks including LEED-related activities.

The role requires a Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years of commissioning or design experience, with readiness to travel

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree/diploma required.
• 3+ years of commissioning or design experience in mechanical HVAC systems.
• Ability to travel for site visits across Eastern Canada.
• Familiarity with construction documentation and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Deliver building commissioning services for mechanical and electrical systems.
• Conduct extensive on-site commissioning visits in Halifax and surrounding regions.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural teams and clients.
• Assist with proposals and project delivery in the Halifax/Nova Scotia area.

Your Opportunity

The Buildings Canada East Division Requires a Mechanical Commissioning Consultant Who Will Provide Commissioning Services For The Building Commissioning Service Line In Halifax. The Position Entails Project Delivery And Continued Development Of The Service Line At a Provincial Level, With Key Functions Related To

• Delivery of Commissioning services for building mechanical and electrical systems.
• Delivery of Commissioning services specifically associated with mechanical HVAC equipment for multiple technologies.
• Preparation of Commissioning documentation including test scripts and final reports
• Interaction with general contractors, electrical / mechanical contractors and clients.
• Interaction with Division management
• Business development in the Halifax Region and the Nova Scotia area.
• Assistance with proposal delivery and general project delivery in Eastern Ontario.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Conduct project delivery activities related to Building Commissioning, including LEED-related commissioning, retro-commissioning, and re-commissioning projects.
• Extensive site visits associated with the delivery of Commissioning services in and around the Halifax area with possible one or two-day site visits throughout Eastern Canada.
• Attend meetings and coordinate work as related to Commissioning services with other disciplines and team members, including mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, building code, building envelope/science, and other specialty services at Stantec.
• Liaison/coordination with clients, contractors and authorities having jurisdiction
• Assist with proposal delivery activities related to Building
• Commissioning, including best practices Commissioning, LEED-related commissioning, retro-commissioning, and re-commissioning projects.
• Interact with the Commissioning management team to develop strategies and business plans for the expansion of the service line

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Strong familiarity with construction documentation including drawings and specifications.
• Interest in buildings, commissioning, energy management, sustainability and construction
• Desire to divide time between on-site activities and office administrative duties
• Desire to travel extensively on one-day site visits primarily in Eastern Ontario Ability to work on low-rise rooftops, outdoors throughout the year.
• Strong understanding of building mechanical controls, especially pertaining to HVAC units.
• Desire to perform work at high quality standards and to partner with clients to achieve client goals

Education and Experience

Mechanical Engineering Diploma/Degree with a minimum of 3+ years of commissioning or design experience in mechanical HVAC systems design or maintenance (University diploma preferred but not essential)

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
