Job summary

A major sightseeing tour operator in Burnaby is seeking a Commercial Transport Bus Mechanic Apprentice. In this full-time role, you'll assist experienced mechanics in maintaining a diverse fleet of buses while learning hands-on skills in a supportive environment. Candidates should be eager to learn with a basic knowledge of automotive systems and flexibility in scheduling. Competitive hourly wages from $25 to $40 based on apprentice level.

COMMERCIAL TRANSPORT BUS MECHANIC - APPRENTICE

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Burnaby BC

Work Hours: Full-time position. Opportunity for permanent employment after qualifying period

Wages: Opportunities for wage increases as you progress through your apprenticeship

Level 1 Apprentice - $25 / hr

Level 2 Apprentice - $30 / hr

Level 3 Apprentice - $35 / hr

Level 4 Apprentice - $40 / hr

At our company we pride ourselves on delivering world-class sightseeing experiences across Vancouver, Whistler, Victoria and the North Shore. Behind the scenes our engineering and mechanic team ensures our fleet operates safely and reliably, and we want you to be a part of it!

This is your chance to learn from experienced mentors, develop hands-on mechanical skills and contribute to maintaining a fleet that helps visitors from around the world explore beautiful British Columbia.

Your Work Will Include
  • Assist senior mechanics and engineers with maintenance inspections and repairs on our diverse fleet
  • Work closely with an experienced team of engineers learning from their knowledge and expertise
  • Learn to diagnose issues, perform adjustments and replace parts using specialized tools and equipment
  • Get exposure to various systems: brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical, air conditioning and multiplex systems
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs
  • Support with welding, body repairs, fabrications and glass fitting
  • Help ensure buses are maintained to the highest safety standard
  • Complete driver defects and remedial work arising from inspections
What We Like About You
  • Eager, motivated and hardworking individual who is ready to grow in a busy garage environment
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop your technical skills
  • Basic knowledge of automotive heavy-duty bus systems and working towards your apprentice levels
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in using a computer to complete job cards
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A positive attitude and passion for getting the job done right the first time
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work a variety of hours which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and/or holidays
  • You have a Class 5 Drivers Licence for at least 3 years
  • ABC Commercial Drivers Licence Class 1, 2 or 3 with air brake is an asset
  • Must have your own tools
