LaPrairie Group of Companies (LAPRAIRIE) is a 100% Canadian, family-owned group delivering integrated solutions in crane and rigging, heavy hauling, civil infrastructure construction and maintenance, and industrial minerals to customers across North America.
We are seeking a Commercial & Financial Analyst to join our expanding organization. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing financial and operational data to inform management decisions and support strategic initiatives. Initially, you will work with the Minerals Group to design and implement the required framework before then establishing similar frameworks in other companies within LAPRAIE.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and KPI analysis.
- Review contracts and support pricing, bids, and profitability assessments.
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses.
- Extract and analyze data from ERP systems; optimize reporting processes.
- Partner with operations to identify cost drivers and efficiency opportunities.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- CPA, CFA, or progress toward professional designation is an asset but not essential.
- MBA would be highly regarded.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, commercial analysis, or financial reporting.
- Background in mining, oil & gas, manufacturing, industrial supply chains, or heavy equipment industries strongly preferred.
- Experience working with ERP systems in multi-division environments.
- Experience with commercial contracts and financial evaluation of tenders or project proposals is desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong financial modeling and advanced Excel skills.
- Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) considered an asset>
- Strong understanding of financial statements, job costing, inventory management, and project accounting.
- Ability to produce polished dashboards, reports, and presentations.
Soft Skills
- Strong communication abilities, able to summarize complex data for managers and executives.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative team player who works effectively with controllers, managers, and operational staff.
- Proactive, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
