Job summary

Milk River Health Centre in Milk River, Alberta, seeks a Combined Laboratory and X‑Ray Technologist II to oversee the site Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging departments, ensuring accurate testing, imaging and reporting in line with ACCLXT, CPSA and Health Professions Act.

You will guide a team, coordinate specimen handling, perform X‑ray exams and related duties, and support change management while maintaining high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years lab and imaging experience.
• Core lab theory: hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, transfusion medicine.

Combined Laboratory / X-Ray Technologist II

Milk River Laboratory is located in the Milk River Health Centre and serves the town as well as its surrounding area. Milk River, Alberta is located 60 mins from Lethbridge, Alberta and 15 minutes from the Coutts, Montana border. Milk River is only a 27 minute drive from Writing on Stone Provincial Park, housing the largest concentration of petroglyphs in North America and an astonishing landscape. The Milk River Golf course offers well maintained greens, a club house and restaurant. The Milk River Health Centre is staffed with an experienced team of laboratory and x-ray professionals that offer strong patient focused service to their community.As a Combined Lab/X-Ray Tech II (CLXT II), this opportunity allows you to mentor and supervise the day-to-day operation of department staff and services in their area. You will be responsible for the coordination, organization and operation of the site Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging departments. You will be responsible for monitoring the collecting, analyzing and reporting of biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs, and reporting results. You have experience with laboratory, diagnostic imaging and cardiology procedures.With a customer service focused approach, and your strong coordination, organization, and communication skills, you build productive and respectful customer relations and take responsibility for customer satisfaction. You have the ability to influence change by encouraging others, building positive, respectful, and collaborative working relationships.Relocation assistance may be available with a Return of Service Agreement.This vacancy may be eligible for recruitment incentive.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT).Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful applicant must have a minimum 5 years laboratory and diagnostic imaging experience.Proficiency in core laboratory theory including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen procurement and handling, and transfusion medicine dispense.Applicants must demonstrate strong teamwork and collaboration skills, effective organizational and time‑management abilities, excellent communication skills, solid technical competence, and a proven capacity to take initiative and assume responsibility.Ability to work independently when necessary.Ability to facilitate change positively by encouraging others and accepting change within the workplace.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of the Epic Laboratory Information System, recent phlebotomy experience (within the last 1-3 years). Leadership and other related training/courses are all assets.
