As a Combined Laboratory and X‑Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter‑professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X‑ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.
Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X‑Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X‑ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Required to take call and live within 30 minutes of the facility when on call. Recent cardiology experience including ECG and Holter Monitor. Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification. The ability to effectively communicate in English. Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and promote good teamwork, under pressure and in emergency situations. Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, and attention to detail. Ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy in dealing with patients, staff, and physicians. Practices effective radiation protection, infection control, and safety techniques as applicable. Proficient computer skills. Ability to adapt to changes. Demonstrated desire and actions to further own knowledge relating to profession. Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and adapt to stressful situations using tact and diplomacy. Ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures. Receptive to new ideas and change.
Experience operating and troubleshooting in the past 2 years: Diagnostic Imaging - Kodak CR Reader, Shimadzu X‑ray unit. Cardiology - MacVu 360, Holter Monitor. Laboratory - ACL Elite Pro, Sysmex 1000i, Clinitek Status, I‑Stat, Triage MeterPro. LIS - Muse, Agfa PACS, Connect Care.
