Opportunity:
We’re expanding our college admissions team and are in need of college admissions counselors who are driven to see their students succeed. Choosing a college is a big decision/investment and it is imperative to provide families with all of the support they need. We provide a boutique, focused, and personalized experience for our clients and help our students craft their own story to showcase their unique qualities.
Role and Responsibilities
Our admissions team creates a playbook for families that covers every step of the application process to help ensure each student is accepted to their top ranked colleges. The plan focuses on meeting goals and submitting applications that stand out. CP Coaches review curriculums, internship options, key extracurricular activities, and strategies for Early Decision (ED), Restrictive Early Action (REA), Early Action (EA), and Regular Decision (RD). This is a contractual/supplemental income opportunity where counselors have the flexibility to create their own schedules and hours that work for them.
- A minimum of five years working as an admissions officer/reader at a selective college, including experience as a high school counselor, independent counselor, or college counseling professional in a business setting.
- A thorough understanding of the high school curriculum, AP/IB, and standardized tests including ACT and SAT.
- Experience working with students in grades 7–12, transfer applications, and private/boarding school applicants.
- A proven track record of student success across different academic programs (e.g., direct med, engineering, etc.).
- Methods for differentiating a student’s application and building an impressive portfolio.
- Experience with athletic recruitment and other specialized endeavors.
- Excellent writing skills and a strong understanding of the current admissions landscape.
- Strong communication, motivation, teamwork, and organizational abilities.
- Expertise with differences between public, private, charter, and boarding school environments.
- Expert knowledge of Naviance, Scoir, and other college admissions software.
- Expertise with application platforms (Common App, Coalition App, Apply Texas, and school-specific applications).
- Thorough knowledge of the college process, types of schools, resources, and environments.
- Proven ability to place students in selective colleges and notable internships and extracurriculars.
- In-depth knowledge of financial aid, scholarships, and other aid options.
- Ability to create individualized plans for high school students, including course selection and extracurricular activities.
- Familiarity with academic and social demands of high school culture and the competitive college admissions landscape.
- Capacity to conduct ongoing research on school profiles, course catalogs, and academic programs to respond to student needs.
- Knowledge of academic programs and contests such as DECA, Science/Math Olympiads, AMC math competitions, and STEM activities.
- Leadership with great communication, writing, and organizational skills to guide families through the admissions process.
- Creative, driven, and energetic with a focus on building life skills, self-esteem, and confidence through positive reinforcement.
- Proficiency with using technology and a passion for helping students excel.
- Desire to grow in a fast-paced startup environment with high autonomy.
- Willingness to collaborate with a team that aims to reinvent education globally.
