Job summary

COBS Bread in Markham, ON is seeking a Sales Manager to lead a small team, drive great in-bakery experiences, and share in the daily rhythm of freshness.

You’ll mentor staff, manage merchandising and marketing campaigns, and support community events while ensuring excellent customer service. This is a hands-on leadership role with opportunities to grow within a beloved Canadian bakery network.

Qualifications

• Outstanding customer service skills with a friendly, energetic approach.
• Strong communication, problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a similar role.
• Basic knowledge of cash management and banking processes.
• Ability to recruit, train and develop staff; maintain high performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the sales team to deliver an exceptional in-bakery experience.
• Merchandise products and execute marketing campaigns.
• Maintain bakery cleanliness and assist with production when needed.

Your Role as Sales Manager

Our Sales Managers are leaders in the bakery and manage, motivate and inspire the sales team. They are experts in freshness, and in giving our customers a great in-bakery experience. Right now, we are looking for personable Sales Manager to share their love of freshness with our loyal customers.

What Your Day Looks Like

• Manage and work as part of a small team, providing an exceptional customer experience, and getting to know your regular, loyal customers
• Be responsible for merchandising product and executing marketing campaigns
• Work alongside your team to keep the bakery clean, and assist with production as needed. (Yep- you’re going to learn how to do some baking!)
• Foster and encourage a positive environment that promotes teamwork, mutual respect and high performance
• Manage team development through training, coaching, and reviewing the teams performance
• Help with local community events and donation of bread as part of our ‘End of Day Giving’ program

• You have 1+ years’ supervisory experience in a similar role, ideally in the food service or hospitality industry
• You have a basic knowledge of financial management skills, including cash management and banking.
• You are a capable people manager and leader with proven experience in recruitment, selection, retention, staff development and disciplinary procedures.

Physical Requirements

• Continuous standing/ walking for all tasks
• Constant use of both hands
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 7.5 kg., reaching below shoulder level, bending and turning
• Occasional lifting and carrying up to 22 kg, pushing, pulling, crouching, bending and reaching above shoulder level
