General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada is offering a 16-month Software Engineering Developer co-op for Winter 2027. You will contribute to design, coding, testing, and documentation within an international TacCIS team focused on armoured vehicle CIS solutions.

You must be enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary program and eligible for a co-op term; AI/ML familiarity is a plus. Hybrid work arrangement may apply and compensation is hourly.

Qualifications

• Enrolled at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution and eligible for a co-op term.
• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Experience or familiarity with AI/ML models preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform design, analysis and testing under mentorship of senior engineers.
• Document analyses, designs and tests using prescribed templates.
• Implement software routines to meet requirements and maintain code quality.
• Assist with integration testing and debug of implementations.
• Contribute to design verification testing under supervision.
• Investigate issues and provide root-cause analyses.
• Support internal customers and participate in design reviews.

We tackle the toughest security and technology challenges by developing and delivering mission‑critical products and systems for international customer. We delivery Tactical Communication Information Systems (CIS) to Land Forces around the world through Vehicle Prime Contractors for fighting and support vehicles. The hardware, software and systems integration that our engineers deliver on a daily basis ensure soldiers are never alone, and always aware. From headquarters to vehicles to the individual soldier, your work helps them accomplish their mission, while keeping them safe.

We are looking for a Software Developer co‑op to join our International TacCIS cross‑disciplinary team delivering CIS solutions for armoured vehicles programs for European NATO nations.

In this role you can expect to:

• Perform some design, analysis and test functions under the mentorship of more senior engineers.
• Document analyses, designs and tests (e.g., tech notes, sections of requirements specifications, design documents, test plans and test reports) in the format prescribed by standard templates with the supervision of a more experienced engineer.
• Implement software routines to meet software requirements.
• Maintain code base in accordance with coding standards.
• Some development and performance of integration test and debug of implementations.
• Some development and performance of design verification test under the supervision of more senior engineers.
• Investigate system problem reports and field incident reports; perform root cause and trend analyses;
• Provide technical support during high‑level integration and qualification testing.
• Provide technical support to internal customers.
• Present work at design reviews or other types of peer reviews.

What You Need to Have to Succeed

• Currently pursuing a University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Software Engineer, Computer Science or equivalent technical degree.
• Experience working with or familiarity with AI/ML models is preferred

It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. You must be eligible to work in Canada.

Compensation

The expected hourly rate for this position is $24.92 - $33.23. Final compensation will be determined based on your relevant work experience to date. As part of student placement, you will be eligible for quarterly pay increases.
