Job Description

As an intern, you’ll work alongside our experienced practitioners and with our clients and communities. This hands‑on experience will equip you with practical skills, build your network, and provide opportunities that set you up for success.

Our local Kelowna Power Delivery team is currently seeking an Engineering Student looking to gain exposure to a unique and dynamic organization. Reporting to the Team Lead, you will assist distribution design projects by communicating directly with clients and customers to establish service requirements and provide solid design solutions and alternatives that meet client needs. You will work with landowners, customers, and other client departments to ensure that the projects are effectively coordinated and executed. You will ensure that facilities are designed in a safe, cost‑effective and timely manner and meet all applicable codes, standards and regulations.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Assist overhead distribution design teams with day‑to‑day tasks and projects including coordination of drawings and details.
  • Develop design solutions that meet all applicable codes, standards and regulations.
  • Develop project cost estimates and material lists.
  • Manage external client relationships through effective and timely communication.
  • Track project actions and milestones and participate in documentation control.
  • Travel and perform site visits as required.
  • Identify potential safety or environmental concerns and initiate appropriate action.
  • Coordinate designs and facilitate approvals with third‑party stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance to customers, stakeholders, and external consultants.
  • General duties, requests, and special projects as directed.

Education and Experience
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program.
  • Available to work starting in January 2026 for a 12‑month term minimum, with preference for longer terms. Please clearly state on your application the desired length of term.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
