Job summary

Matheson Constructors is seeking motivated students for ongoing co‑op, internship, and work‑integrated learning opportunities across our project teams in Canada. Roles may cover project coordination, field operations, and documentation with varying term availability throughout the year.

Gain hands‑on experience, learn about the project lifecycle, and receive guidance from managers and mentors in a fast‑paced construction environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a recognized college or university co‑op, internship, or work‑integrated learning program.
• Students pursuing Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
• Previous construction, project, or field experience is asset but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams with day‑to‑day project coordination and administration.
• Assist with construction documentation, drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other project records.
• Support site operations and coordination activities.
• Assist with project tracking, reporting, scheduling, and progress documentation.
• Participate in site visits and gain exposure to construction activities and field operations.
• Assist with quantity take‑offs and other estimating activities.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Support bid preparation, subcontractor coordination, and pre‑construction activities.
• Gain exposure to the planning and estimating processes that support project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Field Support

Depending on the opportunity, students may:

• Support project teams with day‑to‑day project coordination and administration.
• Assist with construction documentation, drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other project records.

• Work alongside experienced construction and business professionals.
• Develop an understanding of Matheson’s project lifecycle, systems, and operating environment.
• Participate in student learning, networking, and development opportunities.
• Receive ongoing guidance and feedback from managers, mentors, and project team members.
• Build practical skills and industry knowledge through hands‑on experience.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Follow Matheson’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in required safety orientations and training.
• Promote a safe working environment and demonstrate a commitment to hazard awareness and prevention.
• Follow project and company policies, procedures, and standards.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Currently enrolled in a recognized college or university co‑op, internship, or work‑integrated learning program.
• Students pursuing studies in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or another related discipline are encouraged to apply.
• Previous construction, project, or field experience is considered an asset but is not required.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to learn new construction software, systems, and technical tools.
• Basic understanding of construction drawings and documentation is considered an asset.
• Interest in developing knowledge of construction methods, project coordination, and project delivery.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

• Ability to work for the duration of the applicable co‑op or student work term.
• Ability to work in an office and/or project site environment depending on the position.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle may be required for certain project‑based opportunities.

Matheson recruits students throughout the year for Winter, Summer, and Fall work terms.
