Job summary

BDO Canada is seeking co-op students or interns for the Financial Reporting & Insights team in the Ottawa region, January to April 2027.

You'll prepare financial statements, build working files for tax returns, and liaise with clients while developing accounting skills and professional growth. This role blends in-office and remote work with flexible study leave and CPA training support.

Qualifications

  • Currently working towards a degree/diploma focused in accounting.
  • Interested in long-term growth within the Financial Reporting & Insights team.
  • Experience or certifications with QuickBooks, Xero and/or Sage is a plus.
  • Value teamwork, client service, and quality in detailed work.
  • Demonstrate problem solving, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently prepare financial statements for Notice to Reader and Review engagement.
  • Prepare working files for income tax and information returns for a variety of client sizes.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients and respond to requests.
  • Complete ongoing accounting analysis and assignments following procedures.
  • Communicate progress and issues with team members regularly.
  • Assist other departments with various accounting functions as needed.

Our offices in the Ottawa Region are looking for Co-op students or Interns to join the Financial Reporting & Insights team from January to April 2027.

This is a new role and the successful candidate will own the following responsibilities:

  • Efficiently prepare financial statements for Notice to Reader and Review engagement
  • Prepare working files for income tax and information returns for a variety of client sizes
  • Build positive working relationships with clients and effectively respond to request and suggestions
  • Completion of ongoing accounting analysis and assignments following established procedures
  • Effectively communicate with team members regarding progress updates and issues on an ongoing basis
  • Assisting other departments when needed with various Accounting functions

Your Experience And Education
  • You are currently working towards a degree/diploma, focused in accounting
  • You are interested in long term growth within the Financial Reporting & Insights team
  • You may have experience or certifications with Quickbooks, Xero and/or Sage
  • You value teamwork, client service, and quality in detailed work
  • You display strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills

Salary range: $48,000–$52,000 per year
