Kinaxis Inc. is seeking a Co-op/Intern on the ML team in Canada. You will write Python code for microservice architectures and contribute to production-grade ML components, guided by a mentor.

The internship offers hands-on ML software development experience, exposure to real projects, and opportunities to work with cross-functional teams through agile ceremonies. Remote options exist for some locations.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in full-time education or recent graduate within 12 months of placement end date.
• 2+ years in Computer Science or Engineering program completed.
• Hands-on ML experience through work terms, hackathons, or competitions.
• Curious, eager to learn, and a collaborative team player.
• Experience with optimization (linear programming, MILP) is a plus.
• Strong foundation in Python and ML concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop Python-based microservices for ML platform components.
• Work under a mentor to learn and contribute to production code.
• Contribute to new product ideas and demos for executives and patents.
• Participate in training and onboarding to start contributing within weeks.
• Support scalability and security of the AI platform.

About the team

Making new supply chain planning solutions possible with Machine Learning is what our fast-growing team of developers is all about. We build creative solutions that solve real business problems for our Maestro users without the need for them to become Machine Learning experts.

We are looking for a talented candidate to join our development team for a placement. It’s an opportunity for you to get real hands-on experience with Machine Learning software development and all the components needed to deploy it into a production system.

Location

If in Ottawa or Toronto, you must be in the office at least three days a week. Other Canadian Locations - Remote

Term Duration

This is a full-time, 4, or 8-month position, starting January 2027. Extensions can typically be made after the internship has been started.

Co-op / Intern Eligibility

This position is open to co-ops and interns. To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled in full-time education or be a recent/upcoming graduate within 12 months of the placement end date.

Compensation range

$27.04 - $39.66 hourly rate. The final offer within this range will reflect the candidate’s skills, year of education, and experience.

What you will do

• As a Co-op/Intern on the ML team you will be treated like a full-time developer and get to work on everything from tech selection to production code on our latest projects
• You will be working with a mentor from whom you can learn and who will provide support and guidance
• Your projects may include development of new product ideas as well as demos to executives and patent applications
• You will have access to the training that you need and start to make an impact within a few weeks of joining the team
• You will write Python code for microservice architectures
• You will contribute to the continuous improvement of our AI platform, ensuring scalability and security.
• You will participate in agile processes such as sprint planning, huddles, pair programming and retrospectives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

What we are looking for

• You are curious and passionate about applying Machine Learning to solve real problems
• You’re always learning, trying out new ideas and experimenting with technology
• You love to work in a team to learn from and to teach others
• You like to develop new technology, business and people skills and you always welcome a challenge
• You have some hands-on experience with ML through work terms or hackathons, competitions, etc.
• Experience with optimization (linear programming, mixed integer problems, solvers) is an asset
• Experience in statistical inference and related concepts is an asset
• You’ve completed 2+ years in a Computer Science or Engineering program
