Job summary

Robertson, Eadie & Associates, a People Corporation subsidiary, is seeking a Co-Op Actuarial Student in Burlington for the winter term (Jan–Apr 2027). You will prepare pension calculations and reports for defined benefit and defined contribution plans, working with actuaries and consultants.

You will complete year-end tasks, assist with pension benefit calculations, regulatory filings, valuations, and draft professional communications while developing actuarial skills in a collaborative team

Qualifications

• Pursuing university degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics and Statistics.
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Time management skills and the ability to set priorities when faced with deadlines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment but also efficient when working independently.
• Good communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Strong client focus and professional acumen.
• Progression towards an actuarial designation is an asset but not required.
• Bilingual (French and English) is an asset but not required.

Job description

We are seeking an Actuarial Analyst (Pension) Co-Op student to join our Robertson, Eadie & Associates team in Burlington for the winter term (January through April, 2027).

Reporting to the Principals, Robertson, Eadie & Associates, the Co-Op Actuarial Student prepares pension calculations, analysis, and reports for defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans while working directly with actuaries and pension consultants.

As a Co-Op Actuarial Student, you will:

• Complete year-end tasks such as preparing annual pension statements, member reconciliations and fund reconciliations; calculating Pension Adjustments; determining increases to pensions-in-pay
• Assist in day-to-day administrative tasks including calculation of pension benefits for retirement, termination, death or marriage breakdown under various types of plans and preparation of pension documentation for clients and plan members in accordance with pension plan provisions and provincial legislation
• Assist in the regulatory processes; such as preparing quarterly pension adjustment reversals and annual information returns
• Perform complex calculations and assist with the preparation of actuarial valuations of pension plans and post-retirement and post-employment benefit plans
• Draft professional reports and correspondence
• Assist with special projects

To be successful as an Actuarial Co-Op Student, you will need:

• Pursuing university degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics and Statistics
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Time management skills and the ability to set priorities when faced with competing deadlines
