Location: Stratford, ON, Canada (onsite)

As our next co‑op student, you’ll be at the forefront of performing the duties of the position for the production of products for our customers. Work must be done in a safe and efficient manner and comply with all Johnson Electric’s Health & Safety policies, procedures and quality systems. Working knowledge with SPS, 5S and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities are required.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Ensure machines are set up to machine the required parts.
  • Install and remove spindle chucks, collets, drawbars, spindle adaptors and cutting tools as necessary.
  • Index cutting inserts and make size change adjustments to machines as required.
  • Load and unload parts on machines to maintain required production levels.
  • Chart SPC data as determined by process sheet specifications.
  • Ensure that the requirements of the Quality Management System and Environmental Health & Safety Systems are met.
  • Other duties as required.
What We’re Looking For:
Education and/or Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer Numerical Control Machining Program Certificate in progress.
Qualifications:
  • Must have working knowledge of machining principles and practices.
  • Familiar with CNC controls and programming techniques.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, experience in the automotive industry is an asset.
  • Good mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of conventional machine methods is an asset.
  • Good interpersonal skills. Able to work well independently or in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining quality.
Language Skills:
  • Proficient in English (both spoken and written).
Work Environment (including Physical Demands):
  • Work indoors. Environment can be noisy and deal with different temperatures (i.e., extreme heat).
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 30 lbs.
  • Work shifts may include days, afternoons, nights or continental.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods at a time.
  • Able to work overtime when required/requested.
