Job summary

Johnson Electric in Stratford, Ontario is offering a CNC Setter Operator Co-op position. The role focuses on setting up and operating CNC equipment to meet quality standards while supporting production targets in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

As a student co-op, you will gain hands-on experience with CNC machining, process optimization, and problem-solving in a collaborative, inclusive team. Relocation is not available, and shift premiums apply as part of supplemental pay.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a CNC Machining or related Manufacturing program.
• Basic knowledge of machining principles, CNC equipment, and manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of CNC controls and programming fundamentals.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC machines and install/remove tooling, chucks, collets, and adapters as required.
• Load and unload parts while maintaining production targets and quality standards.
• Monitor machine performance, make size adjustments, and index cutting inserts as required.
• Collect and chart SPC data according to process specifications.
• Follow all Environmental Health & Safety, Quality, and operational procedures.
• Support continuous improvement and 5S initiatives within the department.
