The CNC Programming role is to perform the programming activities for Individual Projects released to Production. As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting production drawings, inputting the design specifications, adjusting the machine cutting paths, and performing quality checks on the final product. You may also be required to perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the manufacturing process.

Job Summary

The CNC Programming role is to perform the programming activities for Individual Projects released to Production. As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting production drawings, inputting the design specifications, adjusting the machine cutting paths, and performing quality checks on the final product. You may also be required to perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the manufacturing process.

Key Accountabilities
  • Reading and interpreting production drawings and design models.
  • Inputting the product design into the computer modeling software.
  • Choosing and loading the correct cutting tools for the job.
  • Adjusting machine settings to the desired product specifications.
  • Troubleshooting issues during the manufacturing process.
  • Completing quality control tests during the manufacturing stage and on the final product.
  • Training new staff on machine operation procedures.
  • Maintain the inventory of tools, drill bits and other supplies required for the operation of the CNC machines.
  • Assist in checking the cutting sheets of projects scheduled at the Machine Shop.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Expectations
  • Machine cutting paths or settings are optimized while the product quality is maintained.
  • Troubleshoot minor issues and/or work with the CNC Machine’s Technical Support Personnel to address major issues.
  • Organize and maintain the inventory and safety levels of tools and materials required for operation (MRO).
  • Ensure proper yields from material (nesting).
  • Checking programs on first off and mock-ups.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or vocational equivalent
  • Previous experience operating CNC machines is an asset
  • Working knowledge of production processes using a variety of wood materials
  • Ability to work cohesively with employees and managers as part of a team
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines
  • Understanding different tools, feed and speed, for various materials
